Charles I, Silver Crown, 1642, Oxford mint, king on horseback left with upright sword, flowing sash behind, ground below, Shrewsbury plume above, no initial mark, rev declaration in two lines, value and three Oxford plumes above, date below, initial mark four pellets, 30.24g (Brooker 869; Morrieson A-1; N 2405; S 2945). One light scratch on the reverse to left of left plume and some light die flaws, struck at an earlier stage to the Brooker coin as the flaws are less evident, a little weak at one part at rear of horse and corresponding part of reverse, otherwise attractively toned, pleasing extremely fine and a super portrait of the King.
