BRITISH COINS. Other Properties. William III (1694-1702), Gold Five-Guineas, 1699, first laureate head right, legend and toothed border surrounding, rev crowned cruciform shields, Lion of Nassau at centre, sceptres in angles, edge inscribed in raised letters, dated UNDECIMO (MCE 169; S 3454). Has been lightly polished, hairlined with some flan flaws and tiny pits, otherwise brilliant extremely fine and pleasing.
