George III, Gilt-copper Pattern Penny, 1797, late Soho, large laureate bust right, K:. on shoulder, legend in large letters on raised border both sides, GEORGIUS III.D:G.REX., rev inverted die axis, Britannia seated left on rock with shield, holding trident and olive branch, ship to left, K on rock to right, waves below, date on raised rim below, BRITANNIA. above, edge with faint incuse inscription RENDER TO CÆSAR THE THINGS . WHICH ARE CÆSARS followed by flower ornament (Peck 1089 KP5, note 1). Cut on cheek and with some tiny black spots both sides, obverse rim bruise, otherwise extremely fine and extremely rare.
