SELEUCIS and PIERIA, Emesa. Caracalla. AD 198-217. AR Tetradrachm (27mm, 14.46 g, 12h). Officina with Crescent. Struck circa AD 215-217. Laureate head right / Eagle standing facing, head and tail left, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; between legs, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Shamash left; crescent beneath eagle's head. Prieur 1009. Lustrous, copper oxide deposits on the obverse. Good VF. Very rare, eight noted by Prieur, and five in CoinArchives.
