L AEL AVREL CO-[MM AVG] P FEL, laureate head of Comodus right / [PROVI]DEN-TIAE AVG, Commodus as Hercules standing facing, head left, foot on galley-prow, resting club on tree-trunk right; clasping hands over grain-ears with Africa, standing right, wearing elephant skin headdress and holding sistrum; at feet lion. RIC 259a; RSC 643. Rough Near VF, somewhat irregular flan, dark patina with some thick encrustations, mainly on obverse.
