KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tigranes II 'the Great', 95-56 BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 24 mm, 9.00 g, 1 h), Artaxata, RY 28 = 69/8. Draped bust of Tigranes the Younger (?) to right, wearing five-pointed tiara decorated with a star between two eagles and tied with a diadem. Rev. BAΣΙΛEΩΣ - TIΓPANOY Nike advancing left, holding wreath in her right hand and palm frond over her left shoulder; in field to left, HK over monogram. Kovacs 98 corr. (HK not KH). Very rare. An attractive example struck on a very broad and exceptionally heavy flan. Areas of weakness, otherwise, very fine.
