Greek Italy. Central Italy, uncertain. AE Cast Triens (?), 3rd century BC. D/ Barley grain; in left field, three pellets; in right field, pellet (?) and uncertain symbol: caduceus (?). R/ Sunburst of sixteen rays; no central pellet. Cf. Vecchi ICC 295 var. (Quadrans, three pellets, no symbol on obverse, central pellet on reverse); cf. HN Italy 375 var. (same); [cf] Haeb. pl. 67, 20 and 22. AE. g. 55.96 RRR. Unlisted in the standard references and apparently unpublished. A superb cast in high relief, in excellent condition. Earthen green patina, reddish brown spots on reverse. EF.
