Lead seal of Nikephoros Pastillas (?), the patrikios (11th/12th cent.)
Obverse: The bust of archangel Michael, facial, nimbate, in military garments, holding a sceptre and globus, columnar inscription: Ο ΜΙ-ΧΑ(ΗΛ)= Ὁ Μιχαὴλ (Saint Michael), all within dotted border, partly existing.
Reverse: Inscription in 6 lines, all within dotted border: [Ν]ΙΚΗ[ΦΟ]/[Ρ]ΟΥ ΠΑΣΤ(ΙΛΛΑ) [ΠΑ]ΤΡΙΚ(ΙΟΥ) ΚΑΙ/[ΕΠΙ ΤΟΥ] ΠΑΝ.../[...]ΝΡΙΑ.../ΝΙΑΡ.Τ... (Of Nikepforos Pastillas patrikios and in charge of...).
Condition: Very Fine, nice natural patina. Slightly off-center sealing, weak on one part, thus affecting partly the inscription.
