Iron "armada" (Nuremburg) chest, 1600s-1700s. Approx. 100 lb, 32-1/2" x 17" x 16". A typical German-made strongbox for a castle or manor-house, with false lock in front and functional lock (with original key) on top, C-shaped handles of twisted iron on either side of the exterior, straps and loops in front for additional locks, missing small side box inside, original dark and patinated condition.
