FRANCE. Salut d'Or, ND (1422-33). Rouen Mint. Henry VI. NGC MS-62.
3.37 gms. Fr-301; Dup-443a; Ciani-598. A pleasing, near choice example of this ever popular type, featuring the announcement of the Incarnation by the Archangel Gabriel to Mary. A well centered and pleasing strike, with a golden-orange tone and clean surfaces. Rather conservatively graded in the opinion of this cataloger.

The boy King Henry VI was proclaimed King of France at the age of six months and crowned in 1431. Defeats in battle and defections of allies forced the English to surrender all their holdings in France except Calais in 1453, ending the Hundred Years War.

Estimate: $1800.00- $2400.00
