GERMANY. Bronze Carl Friedrich Zelter Plaque, ND (ca. 1925-40). by: F. Klimsch. EXTREMELY FINE.
132 x 192 mm.; 517.87 gms. Niggl-unlisted. Bust of German composer Carl Friedrich Zelter left, "Der minister fur wissenschaft kunst und volksbildung fur verdienste um die förderung des chorgesangs und die pflege des deutschen volksliedes" (The Minister of Science and Education for services to promote choral singing and the care of the German folk song) in five lines at center, finely dressed man with top hat and cane left with mountains in background; Reverse: blank. The obverse show signs of being harshly cleaned long ago now nicely toned matching the rest of the plaque. The reverse exhibits evidence of mount removal at center. Otherwise a handsome example with an attractive motif.

These plaques were awarded by the Prussian Minister between 1925-42 in bronze, silver and gold for recognition of amateur choirs on the occasion o he 50th, 75th and 100th anniversary.
