An ever popular crown, this issue, struck in the United States, features the bust of the final king and penultimate monarch of the kingdom of Hawai'i. Just eight years later in 1891, Kalakaua would pass away following complications from a stroke at the age of just 54 and in the same city as which this coin was struck.
