URUGUAY. Peso, 1844. Montevideo Mint. Republic. PCGS AU-55.
KM-5; Antunez-7.1.2. Medal alignment. Another of the famous "Montevideo Siege" pesos, this time featuring medal alignment and one of only 1,500 minted. Delicate pewter gray can be seen on the surfaces of this original piece exhibiting only subtle wear. Featuring a solid strike and only a few faint adjustment marks on the reverse, it is a well produced piece. The present coin, being from an issue that is exceedingly hard to find in this state of preservation, is sure to draw much attention from collectors of Uruguayan coins.
