URUGUAY. Mint Error--Clipped Planchet--20 Centesimos, 1840. Montevideo Mint. Republic. PCGS MS-62 Brown.
KM-2.1; Antunez-2.2.2. Thick planchet/medal alignment. 3% Clipped planchet. With only two other specimens graded Mint State at PCGS, this piece is among the upper echelon of certified examples. The clip, small and unobtrusive, does not go beyond the beading, and it adds substantial character and uniqueness to the specimen at hand. A smooth and consistent mahogany color mingles with cloudy charcoal brown patina, nicely decorating the surfaces.
