Nude rider on horse prancing to right, holding round shield and two lances with his left hand and striking downwards with a spear held in his upraised right; below, ΣΙΜ. Rev. [ΤΑΡΑΣ] Phalanthos seated astride dolphin to left, holding a spindle over his left shoulder with his left hand and resting his right on the dolphin's back; in field to left, ΦIΛIΣ; behind, eagle standing to left; below, waves. Fischer-Bossert 1080. HN III 933. Vlasto 574. A splendid, bright, beautifully centered and sharply-struck piece. Virtually as struck.

Very sharply struck from fresh dies, even the laurel or olive wreath Phalanthos wears is clear – as is almost never the case.
