CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 240-228 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 3.27 g, 3 h). Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Attic helmet with Skylla on the bowl, pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind neck, monogram of ΑΡ. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΝΤΙ Owl, with closed wings and head facing front, standing to right on olive branch; in field to right, monogram of ΜΙ. SNG ANS 1326 and Vlasto 1102 (same dies). Rare. An elegant coin with an attractive grey toning. Minor flan fault over the eye, otherwise, good extremely fine.
