MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 478-465 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.46 g), c. 470. Lion, pouncing to right, attacking bull, collapsing to left with head raised to left; above, Θ to the left of the bull's horn; below bull, base of pellets between plain lines; in exergue, floral ornament. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with granulated surfaces. SNG ANS 10. Tselekas, 150 (same obverse die). Lightly toned and struck on a particularly broad flan. Very small scuff on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
