Arcadius AV Solidus. Constantinople, AD 395-402. D N ARCADIVS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear and shield / CONCORDIA AVGG, Constantinopolis seated right, holding sceptre and Victory on globe, foot on prow; CONOB in exergue. RIC 7; Depeyrot 55/1. 4.40g, 21mm, 11h.

Good Extremely Fine; lustrous surfaces. A rare variant of a scarce type.

From a private Swiss collection.

The present coin bears no officina letter following the reverse legend as is usually seen, an occurrence Depeyrot noted only nine times. The small number of examples he saw is in stark contrast to each of the officina that were striking this issue, for which he noted examples numbering into the twenties and thirties.
