The regnal years attributed to the kings of Elymais are based on the Greek numeral dates found on their coins which are generally associated with the Seleukid calendar. This tetradrachm clearly displays the year 244 which yields a date of 69/8 BC in the Seleukid calendar, postdating the previously known years of Kamnaskires III's reign (82-72 BC). This new evidence does not conflict with the known regnal years of his successor, Kamnaskires IV, for whom the earliest recorded year is 249 (64/63 BC) and thus, accounts for part of the unexplained hiatus between the two reigns.
