Kings of Syria, Alexander I, tetradrachm, Antioch, 147/6 BC, diademed head right, rev., Zeus seated left; below, CΞΡ (year 166), 14.90g, die axis 12.00 (cf. SC 1784 var.), good very fine [Ex St. Mary's College, Oscott]. Underweight and of crude style with unclear monograms, this is probably a contemporary barbarous imitation. There is no visible evidence of plating.
