Eugène Lefèvre-Pontalis (1862-1923), medievalist and archaeologist; appointed assistant in medieval archaeology at the École Nationale des Chartes, 1894, and succeeded to the professorship, 1911; president of the Société française d'archéologie, 1911; president of the Société nationale des antiquaires, 1916. He founded the Société des amis de la cathédrale de Reims to help restore the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, Reims after World War I
