N. V. Unzhenin black "Tea Money" Brick of 40 Ounces ND (c. 1862/4-1917) UNC, Opitz-pg. 338 (this piece illustrated). 238x184x26mm. 1136gm. Incuse oval stamp containing BЫCOЧAЙШIЙ ЦЕЙПОНСО-КИТАЙСКІЙ (The highest [quality] Ceylon-Chinese [tea]) around Siberian Wolf or Panther, surrounded by 6 imitation screws / perforated into 8 panels, each containing Н.В. УНЖЕНИНЪ (N. V. Unzhenin) against checkerboard background, imitation screw in each corner. An astonishing and glossy tea brick made of the highest grade tea and preserving an appearance unlike any of the other tea bricks we have encountered. Of the highest rarity, and an ideal target for the serious collector of odd and curious monies, or the enthusiast of Russian and Chinese history. Sold with a cut out of the original Money Company lot description.
