Scotland The Commercial Bank of Scotland Limited Thirteenth issue 5 Pounds Pick S328b (PMS CO 62d, BY SC413d) wartime dated 5th January 1943 serial number 15/S 20532 signatures James Thomson titled Cashier & Sir John Erskine titled General Manager. The note in dark blue on yellow and red underprint with the obverse featuring a portrait of Lord Pitcairn the first Chairman of the Bank at lower centre and Allegorical figures at upper centre the same as the pediment on the head office building. The reverse with a dark blue guilloche panel featuring the Bank's head office building at centre flanked by the numerical values. Printed by Waterlow & Sons Limited, London Wall, London E.C. imprinted in small script at lower centre on obverse and which designs are regarded as amongst the very finest of the 20th century Scottish notes.
