Vespasian. A.D. 69-79. AR denarius. 2.79 gm. 18 mm. Rome mint. Struck A.D. 77-78. His laureate head right; CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG / Sow standing left with three piglets; IMP XIX in exergue. RIC II.1 982. RSC 213. Near Fine; multihued iridescent toning; scattered light marks; scuff on neck on obverse. All legends and devices clear. A charming and affordable example of an appealing type.
