Domitian. A.D. 81-96. AR denarius (19 mm, 3.71 g, 6 h). Rome, A.D. 82. IMP CAES DOMITIANVS AVG P M, laureate head of Domitian right / TR POT IMP II COS VIII DES VIIII P P, Fortuna standing facing, head left, holding rudder and cornucopiae. RIC 141; BN 35; BMC 34; RSC 610. A beautiful example with subtle toning surrounding the devices. Wonderfully struck and excellent metal quality. We note on tiny scrape on the left edge of Fortuna's drapery in the area between her arm and the rudder, but nonetheless a thoroughly charming piece. Extremely fine.
