India, Malwa. Jishnu. Ca. 4th-5th century A.D. Æ coin (8 mm, 0.51 g). Conch shell (shankha) / Brahmi legend Jishnu. Pieper 1058; MACW 4902. Scarce and choice.
There is no inscriptional evidence of Jishnu, but he appears to have been a local ruler in the Ujjain region after the collapse of the Gupta empire. A boldly struck specimen with the king's name Jishnu completely visible.
