India, Yueh-Chi tribe. Ca. 2nd century B.C. AR/BI drachm (17 mm, 1.63 g). Horse standing right / Blank. Very rare.

The Kushans were part of a nomadic tribe known to the Chinese as the Yuezhi (or Yueh-chi). They then expanded to encompass much of Baktria and the northern part of the Indian subcontinent. This early type was issued by the Yueh-Chi before they established the Kushan empire.
