ATTICA. Athens. Circa 449-404 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 17.12 g, 1 h), an Eastern imitation?, c. 430s-420s. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet with palmette and three olive leaves. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing right, head facing; behind, olive spray and crescent moon. Svoronos Pl. 14, 13-15 ff. With a curious owl and an odd head of Athena – perhaps an early Eastern imitation. Minor uncleaned deposit, otherwise, extremely fine.
