Early Anglo-Saxon England, primary phase (c. 670-680), pale gold Shilling or 'Thrymsa', Oath-taking type, 1.20g, 9h, diademed and draped bust right, hand holding annulet-tipped sceptre, cross pommée behind, rev. blundered legends outside double-pelleted inner ring, lyre-shaped object flanked by crosses, all on tripod (?) in centre (cf. Abramson 9-10; Metcalf pp. 47; cf. Sutherland 26; N.17var.; S.766var.), struck with flawed dies, nevertheless well-centred for issue, a bolder fine, the reverse better, very rare.
