Mercia, Offa (757-796), Penny, Light coinage, South Eastern, portrait type, London, Ealhmund, 1.10g, 4h, + offa rex, diademed bust right, breaking inner circle, rev. +e|al|mv|nd, separated by four bosses around central pelleted boss (Chick 49a this coin; EMC 1999.0076 this coin; CEB -; N.313; S.905), dark tone overlying a subtly creased flan with only the faintest traces of surface porosity, otherwise a pleasing coin, very fine, very rare, the only example known to Chick.
