Mercia, Offa (757-796), Penny, Light coinage, East Anglia, non-portrait type, Wihtræd, 1.15g, 4h, of|fa|re|x in angles of 'mushroom'-cross, rev. + þ|ih|+r|ed in angles of lozenge-cross fleury, d retrograde (Chick 183a this coin; CEB 113; N.336; S.907), rougher surfaces and a minor flan split at 11 o'clock, otherwise a bold fine, very rare, one of only three examples known to Chick.
