Charles I, 'Pattern for a Shilling' or Memorial Medal, cast and chased, in silver, by T Rawlins, bust left, lovelock on shoulder, with falling lace collar, rev. crowned and elaborately garnished Garter shield, 4.62g, 12h (MI 372/265), roughness at 12 o'clock and a flan chip at 6 o'clock indicating where removed from mount, a hint of smoothing in fields, otherwise with light rub, about very fine, rare.
Historically these rare medals have been considered 'Patterns' for coinage, larger examples representing Halfcrowns, and this for a Shilling.
Estimate: £300 - £400
