Victoria (1837-1901), Silver Halfcrown, 1845. 5 of date struck over 3, young filleted head left, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, Rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, within laurel wreath, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: edge inscribed with incuse letters and star stops, weight 14.14g (Bull 2723; ESC 679A; cf.Davies 568; S.3888; KM.740). Attractively toned, one hairline raised die flaw on neck, otherwise good extremely fine and extremely rare. Value $1,500 - UP
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Briton's, Defender of the Faith."
