CRUSADER: Conrad II to Conrad III (1251-1258), silver dirham (2.75g), 'Akka (Acre) mint, 1251 CE. Cross in the center of the obverse, within text "Allahu wahid, huwal imanu wahid, al-ma'mudiyya wahida" ("One God, one faith, one Baptism"), reverse cross in third line, within field text "al-abu wal ibnu warruhul qudus ilahun wahid" ("The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one God"), marginal text "lahul majdu ila abadil abidin amin amin" ("To Him is the glory forever and ever, amen, amen"). Extremely fine or better. Extremely rare.

An already very rare type, this specimen has the extremely rare variety of two crosses (one on the obverse center and another above the third line of the reverse), which does not seem to appear in recent auction records.

Historically important piece manifesting the cultural exchange between the Crusaders and the Islamic Levant. The dirham imitates Ayyubid dirhams but carries purely Christian texts expressing Christian doctrines of the Trinity and Baptism.

Estimate: 400-600
