New Hebrides Banque De L'Indochine 20 Francs ND (1954) Pick 8a PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. A surprisingly rare and extremely underrated type. The signature combination present on this banknote dates the type to circa 1954, and not 1941-45, which is listed on the PMG label. Nevertheless, this is the first of two signature varieties for this design, neither of which are generally available. At the time of cataloging, this example is the single finest graded in the PMG Population Report, with only three examples currently encapsulated. A beautiful French Colonial rarity. It is important to note that at the time, New Hebrides also used the Australian dollar, which limited the need for large quantities of Banque de l'Indochine banknotes.
