Exceedingly neat and attractive considering its status as an unintentional mint error, this gold 100 dollar coin represents a clear case of a capped die, with the edges uniformly folded upward to the reverse, Elizabeth's portrait on the obverse having been doubled from the subsequent striking of a new planchet.
