Republic gold 8 Escudos 1856 QUITO-GJ AU Details (Mount Removed) NGC, Quito mint, KM34.2, Onza-1776. Struck as a single-year issue in a relatively low mintage of only 6,850. Few survive in better states of preservation, making a nearly uncirculated representative a clear target for rarity-oriented collectors. A prior mount removal is noted near 12 o'clock and the corresponding section of the reverse, though, being confined to a smaller area, proves minimally distracting.
