George V Matte Proof Shilling 1927 PR66 NGC, KM833, ESC-3831 (R7 - 'not traced'), S-4039. Modified effigy. Of the highest rarity, a specially-produced Proof struck in matte texture to minimise the disruptive effects of photographic flash. Highly attractive, with light dove-gray color and very delicate sandblasting which has not left the usual swirl of hairlines one sees on matte types. One of the few of this variety known to exist and a must have for the specialist Shilling collector.
