USA Administration Peso 1906-S AU Details (Cleaned) PCGS, San Francisco mint, KM168. The key date in the series; despite a reported mintage of 201,000 pieces for this year, the majority of examples were retained and melted after the 1907 currency reform. Extremely rare thus, this piece shows brushing in the fields indicative of past cleaning but has retoned to a pale gold with deeper charcoal elements at the peripheries. Far finer than normal for this type and highly desirable.
