Confederation gold Pattern 20 Francs 1873 MS63 NGC, Brussels mint, KM-Pn24. Angel head mintmark. A rare and Pattern issue, seldom seen in as high a state of preservation as this. Subtly prooflike, with delicate reflective fields and razor-sharp striking detail, its color a pleasant butter-yellow with minimal subsequent tone; hardly a hairline or contact mark mars the fields commensurate with its choice grade. The last example of this type we handled, graded MS61, realized $5,640 in our September 2019 sale. This far finer offering will likely elicit even greater bidder interest.
