MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (19mm, 8.59 gm, 4h). NGC MS★ 5/5 - 4/5. Lifetime issue of Amphipolis, 330-320 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing triple-crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, the bowl decorated with coiled serpent right, hair falling in four tight spiral curls / AΛEΞANΔPOY, Nike standing left, wreath upward in right hand, stylis cradled on left arm; trident head left in left field. Price 175. An extraordinary example, perfectly struck on a broad, round flan with satiny surfaces and underlying luster.
