ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 510/500-480 BC. AR tetradrachm (21mm, 17.12 gm, 9h). NGC Choice XF 4/5 - 2/5. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet, hair in thick straight curls, eye with pronounced iris and pupil / AΘΕ, owl standing right with closed wings, head facing; drooping olive sprig with two leaves and one berry behind, all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1590 (ca. 500/490-485/480 BC). Seltman Groups C, G and M.
A second marvelous archaic example, the reverse clearly engraved by the same artist as the previous lot, but with a wildly different style on the obverse.
