Leopold I gold 5 Ducat 1661-CA MS61 NGC, Vienna mint, KM1203, Fr-262, Herinek-85. 17.1gm. Large gold issues struck during the rule of this longest reigning Habsburg emperor are rare in any grade - as such, the present Mint State selection is wholly impressive. Dazzlingly lustrous to almost a Prooflike extent, with fields clear from major detracting marks (some prominent die-polish lines should not be confused for evidence of handling); Leopold's prominent-lipped portrait is perfectly executed with sharp detail throughout. Inspection in-hand immediately rewards the viewer, the planchet catching the eye for its immensely warm tone, the eye appeal fantastically strong.
