Frederik VIII gold Specimen 20 Kroner 1909 (h)-VBP SP67 Deep Cameo PCGS, Copenhagen mint, KM810 (unlisted in Proof), Fr-297, Hede-1, Sieg-2. Matched in certified quality by only the D. Moore example which sold in our January 2017 Signature Auction (Auction #3051, Lot 3206), this stunning gem offers thick and nearly undisturbed golden frost over devices, with a scattering of fine die polish lines serving as the only feature of note in otherwise clear fields. A total of 365,000 examples of this date were struck at the Copenhagen mint, but it is reasonable to conclude that only a tiny fraction of these were produced in a Specimen/Proof finish, rendering such a highly certified example among the finest in existence, if not so.
