Napoleon III gold 100 Francs 1858-A MS65 NGC, Paris mint, KM786.1, Gad-1135. A luxurious golden gem ranking as the finest of its type certified by either NGC or PCGS. The offering, fully struck and indicating careful cabinet storage for over a century and a half, exhibits detailing clear of any mention-worthy signs of contact, the fields revealing similarly little other than a fine champagne tone, with only a small handful of minute contact marks on either side precluding an even finer grade designation. A review of the NGC Census reveals only three examples of the type certified higher across all dates, a testament to the exceptional quality seen in this representative, one which carries an noteworthy pedigree with it.
