Bavaria. Karl Theodor gold "Inn River" Ducat 1780-HS MS64 Prooflike NGC, Munich mint, KM573, Fr-251, Hahn-354. With "H.S." intials for Johann Heinrich Strab, Die Cutter in Munich, 1761-1782. Featuring the bust of Karl Theodor on the obverse, the reverse portraying the reclined "river god" emptying an urn with right hand and holding the three field Palatinate-Bavarian coat of arms in his left. A scarce issue with few found in superior Mint State condition such as this, and with Prooflike features at that. Close inspection under magnification reveals an alluring texturing over the devices, finer on the obverse over Karl Theodor's bust and more crackled on the reverse, lending a delightful contrast that accentuates the imagery against the fields surrounding.
