Great Britain
James II gold 5 Guineas 1688 XF40 NGC, KM460.1, S-3397A. Struck in the same year as the "Glorious Revolution" which saw James II deposed and William of Orange and Mary II's joint ascension to the throne, this imposing gold issue presents the King's bust in clear detail, both his visage and the reverse arms rendered attractively in a sea of orange-gold. As these 5 Guineas were only produced in a limited three-year run during James' brief reign they are relatively difficult to come by, rendering an appealing albeit circulated selection such as this a pleasure to behold. Sold with old collector's ticket.
