Great Britain
George III silver Specimen "Indian Peace" Medal 1814 SP62 PCGS, BHM-844. 75mm. By Thomas Wyon. Edge plain, with suspension loop. A fabulous piece of British-American history, a type produced by British forces for presentation to Native American chiefs who agreed to aid them in the War of 1812; this medal represents a direct link to the last significant conflict between the US and Britain whose ending began two centuries of peace and cooperation. Extremely well-struck and impressively untouched for a type which often saw much handling and mistreatment, pleasantly toned with magenta-gray centers and peripheral rings of cobalt blended with seafoam.
