Great Britain
George IV gold Sovereign 1825 MS62+ NGC, KM696, S-3801. First laureate head type. The changeover year from Pistrucci's laureate portrait of George to Wyon's, bare head, and far more commonly seen with the latter, the present type is a significant rarity of the entire Sovereign series. Very sharp for its grade as indicated through its 'plus' designation, abundant mint luster giving way to Prooflike reflectivity in the recesses. Scarcely ever found in this exalted quality.
