George V lead Uniface Obverse Die Trial 1/2 Sovereign ND (1911) MS63 NGC, cf. KM819 (circulation issue). 25.5mm. An enigmatic and presumed unique die trial featuring George with a more pronounced neck musculature than the adopted design. Far more well-preserved than is usual for strikings in lead due to the softness of this metal, with gunmetal color and hints of luster.
